~Kay’s Review~

First and foremost I love T.M. Frazier and think she is a goddess! Her books are original and always keep me on the edge of my seat. I loved “Outskirts” and gave it 5*****‘s so dropping into this book I was so excited and ready to get to the bottom of the cliffhanger we were left with.

Soooooooooo……… I am totally kicking myself in the ass because as much as I want to review this with 5*’s I just can’t. So let me get into the nitty gritty as to why I am rating this with only 3*’s 😦

Let me just start by saying how talented I think this author is and how hard it must be to write books that captivate our hearts. I really loved Finn and Sawyer in Outskirts and their relationship was one roller coaster of emotions. I loved Finn with her, and how he helped ease a lot of her anxieties, and the way he introduced her to reality. Plus that cliffhanger!! WOW!! Didn’t see that coming at ALL!

But, when I picked up Outliers I was underwhelmed. This book could easily have been condensed into one. It was unnecessary to drag this out into 2. Like, I had to force myself to read this. I just found myself drifting to the next page to speed up the process. I could predict the ending already by the 5th chapter.

Trust me, this pains me more than it does you. I love T.M. and think she can do wrong but this isn’t my favorite from her. She is a literary goddess and I so wanted this to a home-run for her, but for me it just wasn’t.

Now the light at the end of the tunnel is that I may not have enjoyed this but that very well could be because I read them with too much a time gap in between. I read Outskirts in early September and started Outliers mid November.

My recommendation is to read these two back to back, a friend of mine read them back to back and LOVED them.

BONUS!!! That bonus scene for Up In Smoke is like…… SUPER NUTS!! I can not wait to get my hands on that book!! Just a few pages and I had to help pick my jaw up off the floor! Kudos T.M. because that shit is going to be EPIC!

CD Reiss’s ” Prince Roman” Book Review

A great romance book review on CD Reiss’s ” Prince Roman”.

Rules for my new job:
1) Do not have sex with a man in the office (again).
2) Do not break Rule #1

I’m playing it cool, clean, and professional…until I meet Roman Bianchi. He’s not an insecure nerd or an ego-hole like the other kings of Silicon Valley. He’s charming and handsome. He’s fun, funny, and smart.

He’s also in the office across the hall.

Two broken rules waiting to happen.
I can’t lose this job over some guy.
But Roman’s not just some guy. Under that suit and cocky smile, he’s a prince.

I normally stray away from Novella’s, I am not into the wam-bam plots. A  lot of times I find them cheesy and zero plot development. With that being said, I received an email from INKSLINGER and the blurb peeked my interest. So I had nothing to loose and signed up.

I ended up liking it. I was shocked. The only novellas I generally read are attached to a series that I have already vested in.

What I enjoyed most about this book was that although it was a quick read, I didn’t put the book down due to cheesy dialogue, or scenes cut short. The chemistry between Roman and Raven never felt rushed or unrealistic.

This is such a great book to pick up on those evenings where you don’t want to vest into a series. This book was beautifully written and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

I have already recommended this book to all of my friends and I suggest to you guys too! You won’t be disappointed.

Bad ebook Cover

True power is never held by good men, only the most perfect of villains. And she and I are both villains…
I stole her, and she’s so very angry. The cartel princess doesn’t like being a pretty little pawn. She fights me when she should fear me. But oh, how her defiance excites me.
She would kill me if she could, and I’d ruin her if I had an ounce less control. What a twisted game we play with sweet threats and cruel promises. I crave her madness in the most depraved ways because I know she’ll be so beautiful when she bleeds.
A queen who could set the world on fire and a king who would call it rain. Two very bad people who want very bad things are never safe together.
Some love stories have no heroes.

Kay’s Review

I couldn’t wait to crack this book open and dive into the messed up world provided by the lovely duo Stevie & L.P. I love the dark and morbid world they create and the seedy characters that consume you long after you finished there books. These two authors created the masterpiece that is the “Wrong” series with Jude & Tor, and to say I was eager to jump back into their lives is an understatement.

And seriously, that cover alone will sell itself! Love it!

I hate to say that as much as I wanted to rate this a glorious 5 stars, I just couldn’t.

This book picks right up where War left off. We have Ronan the Russian taking Camilla, the sister of Gabriel as his hostage. We got a little taste of Camilla in War as she was the captor of Jesus’ and she helped Tor as much as she could. So, we begin the book liking her for her loyalty towards Tor & Jude’s daughter.

The authors drop a game changer at about 20% that I never, ever saw coming. This changes the way you view Camilla, and really how the you think the book is going to play out. It hits you like whiplash and you have no hint or clue that it’s even coming. I love when I am surprised with a plot twist!

What I love about this book is that it doesn’t shy away from the violence, and it really pushes the envelope. There are a few scenes where I was holding my breath and I wasn’t sure what the end game was.

Let’s get to the boring part as to why, as much as I wanted to, couldn’t give this book 5 stars. It’s written beautifully and creative…… But I just couldn’t connect with either Ronan or Camilla. He has quite the God complex and it isn’t sexy. It comes off rather slimy and smarmy. We get it, he’s a Russian Mob All Star, but it would have been nice for him to have has some depth. We never get much of a back story nor do we really know how he feels other then his master plan he references frequently.I understand that they are leading to something bigger that I am sure will surface in the upcoming books, I love a bad ass killer but give me one that I can root for. I don’t root for Ronan, someone needs to cap his ass to knock his arrogance down a little.

Camilla is NOTHING like what we she was in previous books. In War, she comes off as a maternal & caring figure. Nope, long gone is the Camilla you think she is. She is a ruthless bitch. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a heroine who is just as capable as the male lead, but again we lack depth. She gives a little bit of her history, but the rest of the book its all about how bad ass she is and how she doesn’t fear death. I would have loved to root for either of them, but I got to the end of the book wishing they just offed each other.

The ending….. SERIOUSLY!!!! As much as I didn’t connect with either of the characters I still enjoyed the book, but you can’t leave it like that! I am dying!! How the hell …….. That is the Cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers!!!
